Global Campus Net, Osaka (GCN Osaka) とは何ですか |

GCN Osaka is an online community primarily targeted at international researchers and students at Osaka University. On this site, information for foreigners such as online Japanese learning materials, medical information, child care information, housing information, VISA information, second hand (recycle) goods information, etc. is posted, and exchanging information between fellow community members is possible through the use of a bulletin board system (BBS). This BBS is designed to be multilingual, so foreigners can use their native language to exchange information.This site is not only for affiliates of Osaka University, but for community members in the surrounding area as well. GCN Osakaは、大阪大学の外国人研究者や留学生を主な対象とするオンライン・コミュニティーです。このサイトには、オンライン日本語学習教材、医療情報、子育て情報、住宅情報、VISA情報、リサイクル物品情報など外国人のための情報が掲載されているとともに、電子掲示板（BBS）をつかって、メンバー同士が情報交換することが可能です。この掲示板は、多言語に対応していますので、外国人が母国語で情報交換することができます。またこのサイトは、大阪大学の関係者だけではなく、地域にお住まいの外国人にも利用していただけるように設計しています。詳しくは下記のページにアクセスしてください。

This GCN project has made the exchange of information/ideas between students, researchers, foreigners living close to the university a top priority. It is also important to create an open environment so that this feedback can be received. This service is not intended to be one whereby information is simply given. Its aim is to create a fair form of communication. For those from foreign countries and or new to the Osaka region, information from senior/veteran international students and researchers can be invaluable.

GCNプロジェクトは、大阪大学の留学生、研究者、周辺に住む外国人が主体的に情報交換したり、助け合ったりするような環境をつくることも目的にしています。サービスや情報について上から一方的に流れていくシステムではなく、水平志向のコミュニケーションをめざしています。海外から新たに阪大周辺に引っ越してきた人にとっては、「先輩」である留学生や研究者からの情報はきわめて有効です。

私は阪大に在籍する外国人留学生ですが、ID申請が必要ですか |

No, in principle. Registered international students are officially given their IDs through your school/department office either in late May or in November. However, please send us the application if you would like to get your ID earlier (before enrolling), if you came late in the semester or in case you don't receive yours from your department.

原則的には必要ありません。阪大に在籍する外国人留学生には所属部局/専攻を通じてIDとパスワードが配布されます（通常、5月下旬か11月頃）。ただし、来日前や在籍確定前にIDがほしい場合や、遅れて来日された方、あるいは部局から配布されない場合は、個別に申請してください。

私は阪大に在籍する研究員／外国人研究員（研究者）ですが、ID申請が必要ですか |

Yes. Please send us the application with your correct information (especially which school/department you belong to etc.).

If you have been given the "Osaka University Individual Number", then you don't have to, as you can log in to GCN Osaka through the IT Authentication Service (only availabe for staff members). You can either visit GCN Osaka first and then click on the link at the upper right in the Top page (next to the login button) or log in at the Osaka University Portal with your ID first and then visit GCN Osaka form the link in your Portal menu. Your e-mail address registration is required (one time only).

『大阪大学個人ID』が配布されていればID申請は必要ありません。GCN Osakaでは、教職員の方に限り、全学ＩＴ認証基盤サービスを利用してログインできます。GCN Osakaトップページ右上の『教職員の方』というリンクから、または、大阪大学ポータルのログイン後のメニューにあるGCN Osakaへのリンクからご利用いただけます。尚、初回ご利用時のみ、メールアドレスの登録が必要になります。

Please click "Application form for ID" under the Top Menu. You can send in the application from this page. Please enter your information precisely so that we can respond to your registration request smoothly.
Click "For the graduates of Osaka University" for registration if you are a graduate of Osaka University. |

Please click "forget password" under the Top Menu. A reissue procedure is possible from this page.
★If you forget your password, please enter your ID and registered e-mail address in the form and then, click “submit.” Your password will be sent to the e-mail address that you entered. ★If you forget your ID, please email (toiawase＊gcn-osaka.jp) with your name and email address you subscribed with. After your name, and email address have been confirmed, you will be mailed your ID. ※This email address has been modified to inhibit spam. Please use above address by replacing "*" with "@". |

| After logging in, please click "Member Info Update". There is a column at the bottom of the page where it is possible to update your e-mail and change your password.

| Personal ID's are created with character strings including a random numbeｒ, or by specific Osaka University standards. Requests to change ID's to specific character strings are not accepted.

| Please check the points listed below.
- Usually the regular 1-byte characters are used for the password. Please check your Input Method of the PC, especially if you are using Chinese, Korean or Japanese. |

| We cannot issue ID's if there is any missing information in your application. Please be sure fill out the form as precisely as possible in order to avoid this.

| It is an online network for Osaka University alumni. It is a trial feature for an online network for Osaka University graduates who are overseas.

どのようなことができますか |
|
| A graduate is able to exchange information with current students through GCN Osaka and continue to do so even after their graduation. I.E. search for an alumni and send him/her a message.

GCN Osakaと連動することによって、在学する留学生と卒業生がネット上で情報交換できます。かつ卒業後も継続することができます。また、たとえば、同窓生を探して、メッセージを送ることもできます。

BBS（掲示板）とは何ですか |

Exchanging information between fellow community members is possible through the use of a bulletin board system (BBS). This BBS is designed to be multilingual, so foreigners can use their native language to exchange information. Through this system, family members of an international student who visited Japan were able to contribute a question about medical care and child care in their native language, and were able to receive an answer from a senior international student answer in that same language.

| You can post messages after logging in. Please apply for the membership if you don't have an ID. Once you receive the ID and the initial password from GCN Osaka, you can use our BBS and post messages by logging in.

IDをお持ちの方はどなたでもできます。IDをお持ちでない方は、メンバー登録申請を行っていただき、管理者からIDとパスワードが届いた時点から書き込みができます。

中国語でも書き込めますか |

| Yes, you can. Not only in English or Japanese, you can communicate in Chinese, Korean, Thai, Arabian, or any language using Unicode on BBS of GCN Osaka.

はい、書き込めます。GCN OsakaのBBSでは、英語と日本語だけでなく、中国語、韓国語、タイ語、アラビア語など、ユニコードで対応するすべての言語で書き込みすることができます。

| The Multilingual Bulletin Board can be freely viewed by anyone, but you must have a GCN Member ID and password in order to write.

| Comments which have the following characteristics, or have the potential of such, will be deleted without notice. We will restrict the use of the BBS for such memebers who violate the terms of service. Please refer to Multilingual BBS Terms of Service for details.

グループBBS（グループ掲示板）とはどんなものですか 通常のBBSとどのように違いますか |

| "Group BBS" is different from the original BBS.
First you have to be accepted by the group leader for joining the group. Then you can communicate with other group members.
Members can read the topic, write their opinion on an existing topic
and provide new topics about anything that they want to share with other members.

The Group BBS function can be used by limited members, as it is targeted mainly for the students, researchers or both academic and administration staff members of Osaka University.

After logging in, please click "Group BBS" in the menu and follow the procedures from "Participation Request". You can also view your group list at "My Group" that shows the groups you are currently in.
