| At least half a year before you plan to study abroad, take your child to a local pediatrician or clinic and bring your flight information (destination and date) as well as the "mother-child notebook." It's probably a good idea to have as many necessary vaccinations done in Japan as possible. If your child becomes sick, please have the doctor write the diagnosis, medication being used, and treatment information in English, ask about things you should be careful of, and receive any training necessary. Also, it would probably be a good idea to get the name of the illness as well as necessary phrases in either the local language or English. |
留学予定より半年前までにお近くの小児科や保健所、検疫所などに「渡航先、予定日」と「母子手帳」を持参して健診を兼ねて相談に行きましょう。必要な予防接種はなるべく日本ですませていくと良いでしょう。お子さんが病気をお持ちの場合は、医師に診断書や使用していた薬や治療内容などを英語で書いてもらい、同時に親として注意すべき点や必要な指導も受けておくようにしてください。また症状や病名などの必要なフレーズは、現地語もしくは英語で控えておくとよいでしょう。

| Even when you're abroad, be sure to receive a "mother-child notebook." It's available in select local languages as well as Japanese, so be sure to get one. It's probably encouraging to find a hospital with staff who are fluent in Japanese (or English) or a hospital with many Japanese workers. |
留学先でも、必ず「母子手帳」をもらうようにしてください。国によっては日本語・現地語が併記した母子手帳がある場合が多くありますので、手に入れるようにしてください。なるべく日本語(もしくは英語)のできる医療スタッフがいる病院か日本人が良く利用する病院を選ぶと心強いでしょう。
