1. Scholarships Recommended by Osaka University/大阪大学が推薦する奨学金など

The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Scholarship (Japanese Government Scholarship Students) 文部科学省奨学金 (国費留学生)
There are three channels of screening - embassy recommendation, recommendation by Universities and examination of private students. However, you may only apply through the third channel if you have already entered Osaka University. The selection standards for this channel are extremely difficult and there are only a very limited number of students who are chosen from Osaka University. 国費留学生は、大使館推薦、大学推薦、国内推薦の３種類の選考がありますが、阪大に入学してから出願できるのは、国内推薦のみです。国内選考の選考基準は大変厳しく、大阪大学から選ばれる学生はわずかしかいません。
Honors Scholarships 学習奨励費
A scholarship awarded to privately-financed international students excelling in terms of academics and personality who are experiencing financial difficulties. In recent years, the numbers of scholarship recipients have been decreasing dramatically. 私費留学生で、学業、人物ともに優れてかつ経済的に困難な状況にある学生に支給される奨励費です。ここ数年、申請者に対して、学習奨励費を受給できる留学生は大幅に減っています。
Private Scholarships 民間財団などの奨学金
Scholarships offered by private and public organizations. In terms of scholarships recommended by the University, selections occur in each department and from there, candidates for the University are chosen. There are also scholarships where you can apply directly. The following sites contain more information about scholarships and bursaries. 各種の民間団体や自治体などが提供する奨学金です。大学から推薦する奨学金については各部局で選考がおこなわれ、そのうえで大学全体の候補者が選ばれます。このほかに、大学推薦をうけずに直接応募できる奨学金もあります。奨学金にかかわる情報を提供しているサイトは以下のとおり。

<Notification of scholarship information through GCN> ＜奨学金情報のＧＣＮによるオンライン通知＞
International students at Osaka University who are a member of GCN will be notified of scholarship offers within the University in "New Info List". You could also receive these notices to your personal e-mail address as well. However, official scholarship notices are posted in each department. Therefore, you should check the bulletin boards of each department for the most accurate and reliable information (deadlines differ depending on the department). Please be cautious as it is your personal responsibility to check for this information. GCNのメンバーで大阪大学の留学生には、「New Info List」のページで奨学金の学内公募情報が通知されます。また、希望があれば、個人のメール・アドレスにも奨学金情報が送付されます。ただし、公式の奨学金募集通知は、各部局において掲示・通知されるものです。したがって、正確な情報（締切日などは部局により異なります）は各部局で確認してください。（こうした情報確認は自己責任となりますので、十分注意してください。)

2. Osaka University Scholarship for Exchange Study / 大阪大学「学生交流助成」について

  • Eligible: Regular undergraduate/graduate students from a school with an academic exchange agreement with Osaka University.
  • Object: To accept exchange students that display excellent academic achievement
  • Period: At least 3 months and up to 1 year
  • Amount: 80,000JPY/month×(period of stay recognized by the Univ.) Approximately 15 people
    * Students who receive scholarships from within Japan, to a total of 50,000JPY/month or more are NOT eligible
  • Application deadline: Students attending between October of 2007 to March of 2008 must apply by March 20, 2007

  • 助成金額： 月額8万円×(大学が認めた受入機関)(15名程度)
    　※ただし、日本国内のほかの奨学金などで月額5万円以上のものを受給していないこと
    　
  • 応募締切： 平成１９年１０月から平成２０年３月までの間に受け入れ開始の者：平成１９年３月２０日

3. Tuition Fee Exemption/授業料免除の制度について

A privately-financed international student who has outstanding academic record and has difficulty in paying the tuition fee may apply for a tuition fee exemption. However, the actual number of exempted students is decreasing yearly.The exemption application occurs in Student Center. The application dates may vary for your school, faculty and grade from the end of March to the beginning of April for the first semester and from the end of September to the beginning of October for the second semester. 私費留学生で、学業成績が優秀であり経済的理由で授業料納付が困難な場合は、授業料免除の申請をすることが可能です。（ただし、実際に授業料の免除が認められる留学生の数は、年々少なくなる傾向にあります。）授業料免除の申請は学生センターで行います。所属の学部、研究科、学年によって申請日が指定されていますが、前期分は３月下旬から４月上旬、後期分は９月下旬から１０月上旬の申請となります。
