The Unique Nature of GCN / GCNのユニーク性
| 1) Cooperation in Development of International Education and Creation of Diverse Contents | １）国際教育の産官学連携と多様なコンテンツ作成者 |

This site GCN Osaka is not simply a site where exchange students and researchers can receive support services, GCN aims to have a much wider spread offering it across the board to all participants as a community system. This project receives participation from the exchange commitee within the university, and members from various commitees aiming to improve the local area as well as community international exchange groups and parties. At the same time, foreign members living in the local area have been active participants. Another unique detail about GCN is that there are many people who are not a member of faculty at the university who have worked on the excecution of various sectors of the information in the site. As well as the aforementioned (volunteer groups and exchange) societies, Japanese (language) lecturers, volunteer echange students, graduates, medical translaters, various volunteer groups and individuals are also involved. These members are given access codes as contents support/upgrader by entering their password they are able to make postings on various subjects within the system. |
このサイト（GCN Osaka）では、留学生や研究者が単なる「サービスの受け手」ではなく、コミュニティーの一員として主体的に参加し貢献できるようなシステムをめざしている。プロジェクトには、大阪大学内の国際交流や地域連携を推進する組織の関係者が参加するほか、地域の自治体国際交流協会や国際交流団体などにもご協力いただいている。同時に、地域に住む外国人の方にも積極的に参加してもらえるように設計されている。 さらに、ＧＣＮ Ｏｓａｋａがユニークな点は、大学の教職員以外に多用なスタッフがコンテンツの作成にかかわってくれたことがある。前述した団体の方以外に、日本語学校の講師の方、留学生のボランティア、大学院生、医療通訳など地域のボランティア団体から個人として主体的にかかわってくれている。このような関係者が「コンテンツ配信者」として登録され、IDパスワードを入力することによって、各種の情報を直接に書き込むことができるようにシステム設計されている。 |

GCN Osaka has sections in the menu whereby exchange students can receive information that is applicable to them, online Japanese study, information about exchange opportunities in other countries, and it is also in the process of having items concerning international education put into the menu. The majority of the menu is displayed in various languages on the Multilingual Bulletin Boad System. Therefore members of the community and use it as a tool for communication with others. Not only is it possible to communicate in English and Japanese, communication is also possible in Chinese, Korean, Thai, Arabian, and so on. Using Unicode it is possible to make posts in all languages. So, for the family of an exchange student who has just arrived in Japan it is possible for them to receive advice on questions related to medical issues or raising children in their native language from other senior/veteran exchange students who speak the same language. |
ＧＣＮ Ｏｓａｋａのメニューには、留学生の受入れに関連する事項以外にも、オンライン日本語学習、海外への留学情報など、国際教育にかかわるメニューを網羅しようとしている。また、ほとんどのメニューで多言語掲示板（Multilingual ＢＢＳ）を活用することができるので、コミュニティーのメンバー同士のコミュニケーションに利用されている。英語と日本語だけでなく、中国語、韓国語、タイ語、アラビア語など、ユニコードで対応するすべての言語で書き込みすることができる。したがって、来日したばかりの留学生の家族が自国語で医療や子育てに関する質問を投稿し、同国語で先輩留学生が答えることも可能になっている。 |

There is a beginner’s Japanese page called "GCN Ichou Japanese" for students studying Japanese. There are online resources of Japanese study materials and engineering science materials are available. There is also a list introducing free study resources, and Japanese classes (the majority of which are run on a volunteer basis.) Furthermore with the use of BBS language can be taught and studied between language partners, students can also exchange ideas. |
ＧＣＮ Ｏｓａｋａの「日本語学習」のページには、初級レベルの日本語学習者のための「ＧＣＮいちょう日本語」というオンライン教材や理工系日本語の教材が収められている。また、日本語学習者のために、無料で利用できるオンライン学習リソースの紹介、阪大周辺で実施されている日本語講座（主に自治体の国際交流協会やボランティア団体が主催するもの）をリストアップされている。さらにBBSを通じて、利用者同士がお互いの言語を教えあったり（language partner）、学習者同士が意見交換することも可能である。 |
| 4) An organization of overseas classmates (Development of GCN Worldwide) | ４）海外の同窓生の組織化を目指す（GCN Worldwideの開発） |
The realization of making GCN Osaka a world wide site was made possible by a network of graduate students in March 2004. This was an online trial by the network of graduates, and a first by a Japanese national university.Due to the alumni network and various private universities making progress, other countries have come to see this as a common thing. This time the launch of the GCN Osaka system to be available worldwide carries great significance. Linking GCN Osaka worldwide current students, exchange students, and graduates to exchange information on the internet. The exchange of online information on GCN Osaka is possible long after graduation. The legitimate use of GCN Worldwide is an investment which data from graduates can be uncovered, and spread throuroughly. The university needs a group that is willing to try new ideas and make the prgress of the site a realization into the future. |
海外にいる阪大卒業生をネットワークで繋ごうという試みとして、ＧＣＮ Ｏｓａｋａの開発と機を一にしに、GCN Worldwideの実験運用が2004年3月より開始された。卒業生ネットワークにオンラインを使った試みとしては、日本の国立大学ではじめてのものである。同窓生のネットワーク化はすでに複数の私立大学ではすすんでおり、海外では当たり前のことになっている。今回、ＧＣＮ Ｏｓａｋａのシステム設計と平行してGCN Worldwideを開発できたことは非常に大きな意味を持っている。ＧＣＮ Ｏｓａｋａと連動することによって、在学する留学生と卒業生がネット上で情報交換したり、ＧＣＮ Ｏｓａｋａで培ったオンライン上でのコミュニケーションが卒業後も継続することができるからである。GCN Worldwideを本格的に運用するためには、過去にさかのぼって、卒業生のデータを掘り起こし、広報を徹底するなど、大学としての組織的な取り組みが必要だが、課題を克服しながら、本格的な運用を目指したい。
