Human life must be prioritised. You must immediately check for any injured persons. If someone is wounded, take the person to a safe place. If the person is unconscious, not breathing or has no pulse, he/she could be seriously injured and first aid must be given. If you cannot do it yourself, ask for help. I repeat, human life must be prioritized. |
とにかく優先されるのは、人命です。真っ先に事故当事者に怪我がないかどうかを確認します。負傷者がいた場合、安全なところへ移動させます。 また、意識がない場合、呼吸がない場合、脈が止まっている場合、重傷の可能性が高い場合などは一刻を争う事態も考えられます。できる範囲の応急処置をする必要があります。自分でできない場合は、近くの人に、なりふり構わず助けを呼びましょう。とにかく人命第一です。 |

| Obstacles on the road could become the cause of a second accident so bring the vehicle to the side of the road. This should be done right away if it is a light accident where there are no wounded, or the injury is not severe | 道路交通の妨げがあっては、二次的な事故発生の原因にもなりますので、速やかに事故当事者の自動車を交通の邪魔にならないところに寄せます。この作業は、負傷者がいない、いても怪我が軽いと思われるような事故であれば、真っ先にしておいたほうが良いです。 |

| In serious accidents, a court trial may happen for damage compensation or criminal liability, where a witness may become necessary. Witnesses are also important when deciding on the ratio of damage compensation, so secure a witness whenever possible. | 重大事故である場合、のちに損害賠償、刑事責任を巡っての裁判も考えられ、証人としての目撃者が必要になるかもしれません。損害賠償の負担で、過失割合 (どちらがどれくらい悪いか？70 : 30とかいうやつ) をはじき出すのにも必要となりますので、交通事故の目撃者がいた場合、確保しておいたほうが良いです。 |

There are times where you will not be insured if you do not report the accident within a certain period of time so this should be done right away. | 交通事故の当事者となってしまった場合、契約している保険会社、保険代理店にもすぐに連絡を入れておいたほうが良いでしょう。事故から一定の期間内に保険会社に連絡を入れないと、保険が使えなくなってしまう場合もあるからです。 |

| Take picture of the damaged areas of your vehicle and the other vehicle if you have a camera or digital camera handy. It might be useful when calculating the ratio of damage compensation. The camera on your cellular phone could be useful as well. | もし、カメラ、デジタルカメラを持ち歩いていたら、念のために自分と相手の自動車の破損箇所の撮影をしておくと良いです。後々、過失割合を出すときに役に立つかもしれないので。携帯電話のカメラでも、ちゃんと破損箇所が分かるように写れば良いです。 |

Give precise answers and explain the situation of the accident in detail, with the help of witnesses. A statement of accident will be necessary when using your insurance. Ask the police officer to issue a statement of accident.
