| Japan's system is one to support society as a whole's health from the unpredictable injuries and illnesses of everyday life. In Japan, all citizens are able to join one insurance system or other. When you're injured or get sick, you only have to pay 30% (generally) of the actual cost of treatment.If your insurance payment is behind, you will be asked to pay starting from the last date payment was due.Further, you will temporarily have to pay all of the treatment expenses, so please be careful. |
予測できないけがや病気にそなえて日頃からお金を出しあい、社会全体で医療を支えるための制度です。日本では、国民皆保険制度といって、すべての住民がなんらかの保険に加入するきまりになっています。 支払った保険料は、けがや病気の時の医療費に割り当てられるため、治療を受けるときは実際の診療費の3割 (原則) の金額負担ですみます。保険金の支払いが滞ると、最後に支払った時期にさかのぼって請求されます。また、受診のときにも一時的に全額を払わなければならないので、注意が必要です。

| For students who wish to study abroad on this system, there is an internal selection process which begins approximately one year prior to the beginning of the exchange program. This process results in unofficial acceptances, which will be forwarded to the contracted school to be considered for official acceptance through Osaka University. |
この制度を利用した留学の場合、留学開始時期の概ね一年前に学内選考があります。選考の結果、採用を内定した学生については、大阪大学を通じて協定校あて正式の受け入れ申請を行います。

| This insurance is meant for self-employed people, part-time workers, retired people. Foreigners who will be in Japan for more than a year can also use it. The insurance fee is paid to the head office of each city, town, or village (there is also a system where the fee is discounted if your income is below a certain level). If it is in the limits of Japan's insured medical treatment, it can be used for treatment received abroad as well (a notification is necessary). |
自営業者、フリーター、退職者などが対象です。1年以上日本に在留している外国人も対象となります。 保険料は市町村の担当課に納めます (収入が一定以下の世帯のための減免制度もあります)。日本の保険診療の範囲であれば、海外で受けた治療に対しても適用できます (届出が必要です)。

| The treatments you can use health insurance on are limited to normal checkups and the processes, surgeries, medications, hospital fees, etc. associated with these checkups. Health insurance cannot be used on the following: Normal pregnancy/childbirth Abortions (except for doctor-recommended) Vaccinations Health examinations Cosmetic surgery Dental surgery Hair removal (cosmetic) High-tech treatment (heart transplant etc.) |
健康保険が使える診療の範囲は、通常の診察やそれに伴う処置や手術、薬剤、入院費などです。 以下のようなものには保険が使えません。正常妊娠・出産 人工妊娠中絶 (医学上認められたものは除く) 予防接種 健康診断 美容整形 歯列矯正 脱毛、植毛 (美容上の) 高度医療 (臓器移植など)
