| National Pension Scheme [kokumin nenkin] | 国民年金 |

| Under the National Pension Scheme, everybody receives a basic pension (kiso nenkin). It provides income security in old age or in the event of disability or death. Everyone, including foreign nationals aged 20 to 59 must join the National Pension Scheme. Your employer may offer the Employees' Pension Scheme (kosei nenkin) and Mutual-aid Pension Plan (kyosai kumiai) on top of the National Pension Scheme. | 国民年金とは、すべての人に共通する「基礎年金」を支給する制度です。老後や障害、死亡といった万一の場合に、所得保障が受けられます。日本国内に居住する20 - 59歳の人は、外国人を含み、必ず国民年金に加入しなければなりません。国民年金に上乗せして、勤務先で加入する厚生年金、共済組合の制度もあります。 |

* There is a lump-sum refund system for you when withdrawing from the National Pension or the Employees' Pension plan. * If you are a foreign resident and have paid pension premiums for more than 6 months, you can receive a lump-sum refund as long as you meet certain conditions and apply within 2 years of leaving Japan. * In certain cases you can receive benefits after leaving Japan. |

| The nursing care insurance system is a combination of the senior citizen welfare system and the senior citizen medical care system. Now members are able to select the services according to personal needs and preferences. Persons over the age of 40 must pay nursing insurance fees (some exceptions apply). By principle, this service only applies to members over the age of 65 but depending on the disease, members over the age of 40 may receive this as well. | 介護保険制度は、老人福祉と老人医療の両制度を再編成したもので、必要や希望に応じて受けられるサービスを選択できるものです。40歳以上の人は介護保険料の納付が義務付けられています (一部例外を除く) 。サービスを受けられるのは、原則として65歳以上の人ですが、疾患によっては40歳以上の人が対象になることもあります。 |

| This is a medical treatment to assist disabled persons over the age of 18. The aim of this treatment is to help lessen the impairments which remain after the disease has been ""cured"", according to general medical practices.(* Persons under the age of 18 fall under the nourishment medical practice) | 18歳以上の身体障害者の障害を軽くするために行われる医療です。病気は治ったけれど、重い障害は残ってしまった…など、一般の医療では治ったと考えられている障害を、より軽いものにすることを目的として行う医療です。 (* 18歳未満の方は育成医療になります。) |
| This is for persons over the age of 18 who possess a physically disabled persons handbook. Members will receive a subsidy on the amount which has been paid by one's expense. Please consult a doctor at a medical institution specified by the rectification medical practice. (You will not be able to consult a doctor at unspecified institutions).
