Maternity leave, child leave / 産休, 育休

When the mother is working, she is eligible for maternity leave, before and after birth. Maternity leave before the delivery is up to six weeks before the delivery (14 weeks for multiple births). Maternity leave after the delivery is eight weeks. The period of child care leave differs depending on the company. Please consult the place of employment beforehand. There are times when both the mother and father can obtain child care leave.

母親が働いている場合は、産前産後休暇を取得することができます。産前休暇は出産までの6週間 (多胎妊娠の場合は14週間) 、産後休暇は出産後8週間です。育児休業の期間は勤務先によって違うので、早めに相談しておきましょう (母親、父親ともにとれる場合もあります)。

In Japan, abortion cannot take place without the consent of a doctor. When the fetus starts developing, both the mother and child will be in danger. Consult a doctor as early as possible. If you wish for an abortion, a letter of agreement, with the signature of both the mother and father will be necessary. If underage, the agreement of the parents will be necessary as well. It will not be covered by insurance. The fee is approximately 100,000 - 200,000 yen after the 12th week of pregnancy.	日本では、医師が認めた場合でないと中絶できません。また、胎児が大きくなると母子ともに危険になります。早めに産婦人科で相談しましょう。中絶を希望する場合は、母親、父親両方のサインが入った同意書が必要になります。未成年の場合は親などの同意が必要です。いずれの場合も保険はききません (費用は10 - 20万円程度、妊娠12週以降)。
